A Steward is FREE from worry…

18 Jan

I worry, a lot. Just in general, I worry. I can’t let things go, and like a lot of people, I find myself worrying all the time … It used to be about friends, then grades, then graduating, then money, then marriage, then money, then babies, then money…

This past Sunday, our church, continued our study on stewardship. We’re only on week two, and my assumptions about this study have been completely thrown out the window… I thought being a steward was just about taking care of the things God gives you.

Last Sunday, Bill Wellons, who some of you may remember married Jarrod and me, gave a powerful lesson on a steward’s freedom.

As children of God we are made in His image. We are broken, and separated from God, but by grace we are saved through Jesus. When worry creeps into our minds, that’s a result of our doubting God. When we worry, our faith is lacking.  Bill said something on Sunday that really put things in perspective; worrying allows us to make  ourselves false prophets. Our worry is essentially  an act of predicting the future, what could happen, what will happen. Instead of trusting God’s plan for us, we are lacking faith.

I want to invite you to watch the service from this past Sunday (1/15)

Click here to watch Week 1 and/or Week 2 online. I promise you will love it.

“And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but the Father knows that you need these things. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. Do not be afraid little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12 29-34
