What’s on my Heart today (Hillsong-Hosanna)

14 Jul

I’m feeling particularly moved today by a song that we’ve been singing in my church for years.

The part that really speaks to me are the lines: “Break my heart from what breaks yours/Everything I am for your kingdom’s cause/As I walk from earth into/Eternity

This is such a powerful reminder for me that I was not put on Earth to live for myself, and my time on Earth is only a fragment of what my future holds. Jarrod and I have always talked about adopting, and it’s something that we are planning on pursuing in the future. The lines that I just mentioned always make me tear up because  it makes me think  of all of the babies that don’t have a mother to love them and how much this breaks our Father’s heart. It’s definitely something that breaks mine. I know that in James 1:27 we have been called to, “to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” I know that the Lord has put adoption on my heart so I can pursue his “kingdom’s cause” in that way.

I just wanted to share this with you. If you haven’t seen it, I hope you can take something from it. If you have seen it, then I hope this is a reminder to you of God’s power, and His promise to us.

I see the King of glory
Coming on the clouds with fire
The whole earth shakes, the whole earth shakes
I see His love and mercy
Washing over all our sin
The people sing, the people sing

Hosanna, hosanna
Hosanna in the highest

I see a generation
Rising up to take the place
With selfless faith, with selfless faith
I see a near revival
Stirring as we pray and seek
We’re on our knees, we’re on our knees

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am for Your Kingdom’s cause
As I walk from earth into eternity
